Life on the Farm

harris.jpgWell, we have met the good ole’, imaginative, fun-loving, country boy, Harris, and his cousin Gary. Don’t you just love Harris’ imagination and how he seems to have fun with very little? Didn’t you love hearing about the mice and Tarzan?? It is very different than the type of fun you usually have; blogging, video games, TV, team sports, and much more, isn’t it? Sometimes I wonder how the technology of today affects our imagination…

Let’s go back to simpler times and try to imagine what life on the farm would be like?

    • What kind of fun do you think you would have living on a farm?
    • What type of imaginative games would you play with friends?
    • What do you think of Harris?
    • More barn__windmill.gifimportantly, what do you think Gary thinks of the farm life?

Also, if you have any family or friends that live on a farm or in the country, tell us if you have visited and what it was like? Let your parents blog if they have any comments or experiences:)!

Remember, in order to get your comment published you must be detailed, descriptive, and check over your comment for spelling errors and your conventions!

Love,

Weight vs Mass

In science class, we’ve been learning the difference between mass and weight. We’ve learned that weight is the measurement for the amount of gravity needed to pull an object down. We also learned that the pull of gravity has different strengths on different planets. We’ve calculated our weight on Earth and what our weights would be on other planets. Using your background knowledge about planets and what you learned about weight on these planets, which planet would you most like to visit and why? Support your reason using information found on the graphing weight activity we did in class. Be creative!

FROGGY BLOG

Hello Class,

This post is dedicated to Jennifer, Bufo, and all the other characters Bruce Coville has introduced us to! Hopefully you all have been enjoying Jennifer Murdley’s Toad. I have always enjoyed reading this book to my classes! You are doing great making prediction, connecting to the story, and visualizing what the author is writing!

Now, for all of you that would like a special treat and are willing to go above and beyond I have a challenge!

Choose 1 of the scenes from Jennifer Murdley’s Toad to draw. Be as detailed as possible as to WHAT you include in your picture. Be as creative as you like with your picture. You can cut out pictures from magazines, use clip art on the computer, or just draw and color as you like. Please NO NOTEBOOK PAPER!

Here is an example: Maybe you can draw Bufo relaxing in his terrarium with Jennifer peeking in. Maybe you can draw the scene with the ringing red plastic phone. Or maybe you could draw the scene with Jennifer, and Sharra on the sidewalk with Bufo in the box.
The possibilities are endless! Just be NEAT, CREATIVE, DETAILED!!!
Post what scene YOU are thinking about drawing and help each other out with the details!

Have a fantastic (froggy) weekend!
